INDI Connect case study

A clearer website for a business that had outgrown the old one.

INDI Connect is a 100% Indigenous-owned business delivering workforce, project, training and consulting services across Australia. The business had outgrown its old website, so I restructured, redesigned and rebuilt it in around three weeks.

The finished homepage presents one business, six capabilities and a clear next step.

The old website made a complicated business harder to understand.

INDI Connect serves businesses, government partners and jobseekers across six different service areas. The old website held all of that information, but it did not make the right path obvious to someone arriving for the first time.

Before working on colours or individual pages, I worked through the services, audiences and content to decide how the website should explain the business.

People shouldn’t need to understand how a business is organised before they can work out whether it can help them.
“Jackson was very responsive from the start and always open to answering questions and incorporating my ideas for my website. Super stoked with the site! Also delivered much quicker than anticipated.”

Six services. One business.

The new structure introduces INDI Connect as one organisation, then gives each audience a direct route to what matters to them.

Each service has enough room to be understood without making the business feel fragmented.

Someone can see the breadth of the business, then move straight into the service they need.

The old site was slow. The new one isn’t.

Large images and the old build were contributing to a Lighthouse desktop performance score of approximately 64 out of 100.

After the rebuild, the live homepage recorded 97 out of 100.

The latest test also recorded a 1.1 second Largest Contentful Paint, so the main content appears quickly. The rebuild included phone and desktop testing, accessibility improvements, search foundations and careful launch work too.

The website needed to do useful work too.

INDI Connect needed to advertise jobs and make it easier for candidates to act. Jobseekers can now choose the right pathway, browse current opportunities, register their details and upload a résumé.

Vacancies are managed in WordPress, so the team can keep opportunities current without waiting for a developer.

The site supports the day-to-day work of recruitment, not just the explanation of it.

Built to stay useful after launch.

INDI Connect can update regular content and manage vacancies without needing to understand how the site was built.

The design stays consistent while the information stays current.

Around three weeks from rebuild to launch.

That covered the structure and content, finished design, WordPress build, jobs and applications, testing and launch. INDI Connect brought the business and the direction; I turned it into the finished website.

A website that finally fits the business.

Businesses, partners and jobseekers now have clearer paths to the information they need. The team can manage changing content themselves, candidates can find jobs and apply online, and the site is considerably faster.

This was not simply a new look. It was a clearer way for INDI Connect to explain the business and put the website to work.
